FAQs
Good Green Vitality
Consumption of a product after its Best Before date is considered to be probably safe, however the nutritional value is likely to be degraded pending the way in which it was stored. If the product was kept cool or refrigerated prior to the Best Before date, despite the likelihood of it being perfectly safe for several weeks past this date, and some regulatory environments advising safety up to 3 months past, in the interest of safety first, Nuzest does not recommend consuming products past their Best Before or Expiry Date.
Yes! In fact we encourage it.
The fructose in fruit and vegetable powders would be lower than that found in fresh fruit and vegetables and Good Green Vitality should be ok for those following a low fructose diet. In fact there are ingredients in Good Green Vitality that will support a healthy gastrointestinal tract and it may be a great way to consume a lot of the essential nutrients found in fruit and vegetables that they may be lacking due to their intolerance. As always we recommend checking the product with their health practitioner prior to purchase/consumption.
On balance, Good Green Vitality is considered a low-histamine food and it has been used by people with histamine intolerance and other related conditions without negative effects (such as salicylate, amine, and glutamate intolerances). As with any condition, people with a diagnosed histamine intolerance should try any new food or product conservatively to gauge responses. Please speak to your health care professional if you have any questions or concerns.
There are around 2mg of iron naturally occurring in the pea protein and red marine algae present in Good Green Vitality.
For nutritional insurance - to help plug the gaps in your diet due to poor food quality, soil depletion and imperfect dietary choices; and because of the demands our bodies make for extra nutrients due to environmental toxins and our high-stress modern lifestyles. Nothing should replace a balanced diet of real food - supplements simply help fill the gaps.
Firstly it's not just a 'greens' product. Many 'greens' products are simply powdered foods without any fortification of essential vitamins and minerals, or probiotics, bioflavonoids etc. Powdered food blends are OK for a little 'boost' in your smoothie but without taking significantly more than the recommended teaspoon or two, they really do not offer significant supplementation. Of those 'greens' products that do strengthen their powdered foods with added vitamins, minerals, probiotics etc., you will find that Good Green Vitality has significantly higher levels of nutrients than most products available in this category. Most importantly however are the forms of those ingredients. Good Green Vitality uses the most bioavailable, 'body-friendly', and effective forms available; many of which are not used by ANY of our competitors. It makes for a more effective, more efficient, and in some areas safer, formula to your health and wellbeing.
There is nothing in Good Green Vitality that is contraindicated during pregnancy. We have designed Good Green Vitality to be a safe, every day formula for all adult populations. Note: Rosemary is contraindicated for pregnancy in high (therapeutic/herbal medical) doses but the tiny amount in Good Green Vitality is well below any reference value. However, we always advise women who are pregnant or breastfeeding to seek independent advice from their health practitioner before taking any supplements.
Yes, Good Green Vitality is suitable for both coeliacs, vegetarians and vegans. None of the ingredients in Good Green Vitality are derived from animal products and it is certified gluten free.
According to regulations, Good Green Vitality is suitable for children aged 4 and over. However the dosage for children aged 4 - 14yrs is half that of an adult (1/2 scoop). Regulations may vary from country to country but, in any event, we do not recommend Good Green Vitality for anyone under the age of 4. Kids Good Stuff is a better alternative for children as the formula was developed specifically for early childhood development.
There can often be drug-herb and drug-food interactions with poly drug use. We always recommend that anyone with a pre-existing condition, and those taking medication, consult with a suitably qualified health practitioner before using any nutritional supplement.
The barley and wheat grass in Good Green Vitality are the growing portion of the plant, not the grain. The grain is the part that contains gluten. Every batch of Good Green Vitality is tested for gluten and meets the most stringent gluten-free requirements in the world.
Good Green Vitality is completely safe for diabetics. There are less than 3 grams of carbohydrates per serve so the effect on blood glucose is minimal; and, at around 40 calories per serve, any effect on insulin in type 2 diabetics (and those with metabolic syndrome and pre-diabetic disorders) is almost nil. Good Green Vitality may even help those with diabetes due to the inclusion of ingredients such as chromium and green tea extracts that aid glycaemic control and improve insulin sensitivity.
The green tea and cocoa bean are included due to their amazing antioxidant potential. They are high antioxidant containing extracts. This means the relative antioxidant level is higher whilst caffeine content will be diminished in the extraction process. The maximum amount of caffeine that could be expected from this amount of combined green tea and cocoa without extraction would be under approximately 7mg per serve (or about 1/25th of a small brewed coffee!), but in reality the amount would be negligible. Good Green Vitality should be completely fine for a caffeine sensitive individual.
Providing a perfectly balanced blend of plant extracts, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, adaptogens, pre and probiotics and digestive enzymes, Good Green Vitality is the gold standard in nutritional supplementation and support. It has been designed to help fill the gaps in our modern diet and is a convenient solution to support all areas of health in one easy, daily serve.
The specific form of each ingredient has been selected for its efficacy and maximum bioavailability, providing a synergistic effect that supports everything from immunity to cognitive function, and energy production to digestion.

Available in eight delicious flavors, the smooth texture, taste, and free from all major allergen of Clean Lean Protein make it suitable for almost everyone. Clean Lean Protein is perfect for boosting your daily protein intake, weight management or recovery and repair after exercise.
Clean Lean Protein
We have received confirmation from the supplier that our pea protein is not hydrolyzed.
We can assure you that our products always contain the stated weight on the label. While your tub may appear to be a low-fill, the weight of the product in the tub and the number of serves you receive are accurate, as our tubs are filled on a scale to ensure compliance.
While it appears we could package our products in smaller jars of lower heigh to make the product appear fuller, it is not practically possible due to the texture of the product which is quite “fluffy” and aerated during the initial filing on the production line. This means that the product initially reaches a much higher fill line. Over time, and as the fine powder begins to settle whilst sitting in the tub, the fill line lowers.
Subsequent handling and transport “shakes” the tub which allows the powder to further settle, thereby reducing the space it occupies. Perhaps a simple way to explain this is by thinking about when we fill a dry powdered product in a jar which we tap on a bench to settle, to increase the fill capacity.
As such, it is normal for our tubs to appear to be lower fill by the time it reaches the consumer, even if they are filled to the correct weight.
Our tubs are all weighed when they are filled with protein to ensure that they are 17.6oz (500 grams) each. During transit, the powder can settle, but there should still be 20 servings or 17.6oz of powder in there. A full tub, that hasn’t been opened, weighs around 22 oz and so if no protein has been removed then it should still weigh roughly 22 oz. If you don’t have a kitchen scale, then the other way to tell is to scoop out all of the protein into a bowl using level scoops - there should be 40 scoops worth of protein in there.
Candidiasis is a fungal infection caused by a yeast (a type of fungus) called Candida. Some species of Candida can cause infection in people and normally lives on the skin and inside the body, in places such as the mouth, throat, gut, and vagina, without causing any problems. If you suffer from a Candida overgrowth or yeast infection, Clean Lean Protein and Digestive Support Proteins are great options that include a great protein source and micronutrients that can help the gut wall heal and preserve its integrity.
The key is the balance of nutrients coming in with respect to sugars and fermentable carbohydrates. Less than 3 grams of sugar is simply not enough to have any meaningful effect on someone with Candida, assuming the rest of the diet is appropriate for the treatment of the fungal overgrowth.
The seals in the tubs are purposely created with a tiny hole to prevent jar implosion through oxygen scavenging.
Either these or “breathable” seals are now used by the majority of manufacturers for certain products. The hole is typically is smaller than a pinhole and is not a security risk. The seal itself is not actually required for safety, it is simply there to prevent powder leaking out of the jar.
The modern Paleo diet seeks to emulate hunter-gatherer diets by eliminating processed and refined foods that are abundant in the modern diet. High-quality pea protein isolates are processed using a low-heat, enzymatic isolation process (which is functionally very similar to fermenting or sprouting) and this effectively removes most of the phytate, lectins, saponins, and trypsin inhibitors that are associated with legumes and recommended not to be consumed when following a traditional paleo diet.
Clean Lean Protein is naturally sweetened with a fruit protein derived from a West African plant called the katemfe fruit (African serendipity berry). The protein is known as thaumatin. Thaumatin is a protein, but it is classified as a natural sweetener. It is digested in your body just like any other protein. Clean Lean Protein is free of stevia and stevia extract. However, please note our Kids Good Stuff line does contain stevia extract.
The process of adding thaumatin (katemfe fruit extract) to protein products is by an initial extraction of thaumatin in a liquid form. To use it as a dry powder, it is sprayed onto a starch carrier and dried for use in blending with the pea protein powder.
Our products are designed to supplement your diet with additional protein. Having protein with your meals will help you feel more full and aids in your health goals.
Protein supplementation is proven to promote weight loss by increasing satiety and regulating blood glucose levels to sustain energy. Coupled with a diet of whole foods and adequate exercise, Clean Lean Protein is able to increase your metabolic rate to help maintain a healthy weight. It is best to consult with your Healthcare Practitioner to discuss your specific goals.

Our unique pea protein formula is a plant-based drink mix that is free from common allergens.
Our products are vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, lectin-free. The Clean Lean Protein line of protein powders does not come in contact with crustaceans, shellfish, nuts, or tree nuts at their facilities.
Leucine is one of nine essential amino acids in humans (provided by food) and is important for protein synthesis and metabolic functions. Leucine contributes to the regulation of blood-sugar levels, muscle and bone health, hormone production, and wound healing. The amount of leucine per serving of Clean Lean Protein changes depending on how much of the raw ingredient, pisane (premium European pea protein), contributes to the formulation. Please see below for specifics on leucine levels per 25-gram serving.

Clean Lean Protein has a protein content of up to 90%. Due to the isolation process, Clean Lean Protein is practically free from FODMAPs and contains no fructans.
Clean Lean Protein offers a plant-based, gluten-free, and worry-free way to add more protein, vitamins, and minerals to the diet reducing the risk of histamine flare-ups. Our products are free of common allergens, FODMAPs, histamines, lectins, phytic acid, saponins, trypsin inhibitors, and other anti-nutrients.
The autoimmune protocol diet (AIP) is a variant of the popular Paleo diet in which common irritants and allergens that are suspected of being triggers for autoimmune reactions in the body or that cause intestinal inflammation and a leaky gut, are also eliminated.
Our pea protein is from the European golden pea, which is technically a legume and not allowed on the AIP diet. However, the isolation process means the finished product is no longer a ‘legume’ and is completely free of any lectins. If you're following the AIP diet, we recommend you try Nuzest's Just Natural Clean Lean Protein or Digestive Support Protein flavors, but results can vary and each person is on a different health journey. You should speak to your Healthcare Practioner about your specific goals or questions.
If you are curious about the sodium in Clean Lean Protein, you may find that our sodium content is higher than some other pea proteins on the market. The excess sodium comes from remnants of the natural, water-based isolation process that extracts the pure pea protein isolate from the peas.
Our products use Pisane® which is a high purity, pea protein isolate. Pisane® pea protein contains all the essential amino acids needed by adults. The sodium is used with water to split the amino acids from the pea and this is what results in slightly higher sodium content than some of the other pea proteins on the market.
The way we isolate the amino acids from the peas is completely free from harmful chemicals. There are no artificial additives or substances added at any stage of our manufacturing process to extract the pure pea protein isolate.
Thaumatin is a protein, but it is classified as a natural sweetener, which is what our Clean Lean Protein products are sweetened with. Thaumatin amounts per serving vary by flavor. Please see below for the specifics per serving (in milligrams/mg).
Smooth Vanilla: 12 milligrams
Rich Chocolate: 14 milligrams
Wild Strawberry: 12 milligrams
Real Coffee: 3 milligrams
Just Natural: 0 milligrams
Coffee Coconut + MCTs: 13 milligrams
Chai Turmeric + Maca: 10 milligrams
Vanilla Matcha: 13 milligrams
If you follow or are considering following an alkaline diet, then Nuzest Clean Lean Protein is an ideal choice to add to your daily routine. Clean Lean Protein, made from golden pea protein isolate, is the world’s only alkaline protein with a pH reading of 7.8!
Our body requires finely controlled pH levels in the blood (as well as tissues and other fluids) in order to maintain optimal health. Modern diets and non-vegan protein sources may cause an increase in acidity in the blood, which then needs to be buffered by the body breaking down bone and muscle tissue to free up 'basic' (alkaline) compounds. Clean Lean Protein provides a high level of good quality protein, without contributing to acid overload in the body.
The previous scoop was 32.5cc and our new scoop is 32cc.
When adding a protein powder to your nutrition regimen, you have the choice of a plant-based or animal-based protein. Egg protein and pea protein can both give you about 16-25 grams of protein per approximately 100-calorie serving. Whole eggs contain 6 grams of protein and 5 grams of fat. Pea protein and egg protein are low in fat and cholesterol, good sources of potassium and calcium; and gluten, dairy, and soy-free. Egg white protein fits keto and paleo diets. Both types fit a vegetarian diet, while only pea protein is vegan. These both give a quality source of protein even if you’re not on a specialty diet. For more information, see the following article: Pea Protein vs Egg Protein: Which Protein is Right for You?
The amount of Chai Maca flavoring in the Chai Turmeric + Maca protein powder is as follows, per 25-gram serving.
- Maca: 830 milligrams
- Chai Flavor: 500 milligrams
- Chai Spice: 500 milligrams
- Cinnamon: 450 milligrams
- Turmeric: 000 milligrams
- Black pepper: 100 milligrams
The tiny black specs found throughout our Coffee Coconut MCT'S protein are coffee powder.
Fair Trade Chocolate is chocolate that is made with cacao beans from farmers who are paid a fair price for their crop, instead of the low price set by the market. At this time, not all of our cocoa powder is from fair trade sources, but we continuously search for the best sources for these products. At this time, we do not guarantee all batches are made using fair-trade chocolate. Our beans originate from Indonesia.
Iodine is a trace element that is naturally present in some foods, added to some types of salt, and is available as a dietary supplement. There is no iodine in Clean Lean Protein products.
Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid and a component of every complete protein source.
You may be thinking of the artificial sweetener aspartame. Aspartame is created from phenylalanine and aspartic acid. Phenylalanine and aspartame are quite different compounds. We do not use aspartame in any Nuzest products.
The flavoring in our products is not alcohol-based and we are Halal certified which does not allow alcohol at all in processing.
Clean Lean Protein contains no MSG and none is creating during manufacturing and processing.
While oxalates are rich in plant foods, the peas used in Clean Lean protein (Pisum sativum) have a reportedly low level of oxalates present. The pisane used is the protein fraction isolated from the rest of the pea, so there should be very small or no detectable levels remaining. If you are sensitive to oxalates or have a history of kidney stones, please discuss our products with your Healthcare Practioner. We do not test for oxalates in Clean Lean Protein.
Since we do not ferment or break down the bacteria, the pisane should be mainly amino acids, so it is unlikely that many purines exist in Clean Lean Protein.
Clean Lean Protein wouldn't be expected to have a high post-prandial blood glucose response, but as with all protein, there could be an insulin response similar to consuming large amounts of carbohydrates.
Post-prandial glucose responses can vary between individuals. While most people would see minimal blood glucose responses to a practically 'pure' protein source like Clean Lean Protein, in rare cases, there is evidence that has revealed glucose responses could be higher.
This could be due to some people expressing higher glucagon compensatorily to insulin from protein, intolerance or allergy, or effects of catecholamines on proteolysis.
If you have specific questions regarding your blood sugar levels, please speak to your Healthcare Practitioner.
Available in eight delicious flavors, you can shake, blend or bake with Clean Lean Protein. Simply add 2 scoops or 1 single-serving sachet to a shaker containing 10 or more ounces of liquid and shake to mix. It can be mixed with your choice of water, dairy-free milk, or coconut water. You can even blend the protein with yogurt and berries into a delicious smoothie. For more information and a variety of recipes, see the following blog: Recipes and follow our Instagram account @nuzest_usa.
No, there is no corn in Clean Lean Protein.
Clean Lean Protein is isolated using patented water-based enzyme technology. The process is completely natural and no solvents or hexane are used. The company from which we source the protein is called Cosucra, and they are world leaders in their field.
Yes, you can! A few of our team members like to make their smoothies the night before work, freeze them, and then defrost them in the fridge for lunch the next day! Delicious.
Every batch of Clean Lean Protein is analyzed for levels of yeast, mold, and total plate count for evaluating levels of microorganisms in the finished product to ensure they're within safe ranges legislated for food products.
One serving of Clean Lean Protein (all flavors) is two scoops, which is equivalent to 25 grams. Please note this is measurement is based on the scoop provided in your canister.
Clean Lean Protein does not contain detectable quantities of phytoestrogens. Phytoestrogens are estrogens that occur in some plants. Foods containing phytoestrogens include beans, soy products, peas, lentils, some whole grains and seeds like flaxseed, rye, and millet. While there are very low levels in some legumes, the isolation process we use in our protein removes any significant amounts from the sustainable grown European golden peas leaving highly purified naturally derived amino acids.
Animals have different digestive systems than humans and should not consume foods developed for humans or containing natural flavors. It is not recommended that animals or pets consume our products.
We recommend anyone with these types of conditions to speak to your healthcare practitioner first before trying our products.
Clean Lean Protein is isolated using patented water-based enzyme technology. The process is completely natural and no solvents or hexane are used. The company from which we source the protein is called Cosucra, and they are world leaders in their field.
Due to the absence of FODMAPs, anti-nutrients, allergens, and gastric irritants, Clean Lean Protein may be suitable for people with Crohn's Disease. However, if you have specific questions regarding our products and your condition, it is best to discuss this with your Healthcare Practitioner. For more information, see the following article: Ultimate Guide to Digestive Issues
There are legal definitions of what a company can call a meal replacement as it must meet certain requirements. For example, it must provide between 200 and 400 food calories of energy, of which not more than 30% from fat, and not less than specified amounts for various vitamins and minerals.
While some people may use Clean Lean Protein as a meal replacement or snack, it does not meet the above criteria. Combine Clean Lean Protein with other ingredients into a smoothie to create a satisfying meal replacement. Check out our Recipes section for some great ideas. You should always check with your Healthcare Practitioner on specific questions regarding your diet.
Many factors play into deciding which type of protein supplement is right for you. We are all on our own journeys, with different goals in mind when it comes to our health and wellness.
For anyone following a vegan diet, facing gluten sensitivities, or having to steer clear of lactose, a pea protein supplement is an ideal option for you!
- Nuzest’s Clean Lean Protein is free from animal products, byproducts, fillers, additives, gluten, dairy, soy, nuts, eggs, and preservatives. It's also 100% plant-based protein.
- Pea protein is highly alkaline, which helps the body to avoid problems of excess acidity (like the potential for increased muscle and bone tissue loss in order to ‘buffer’ the blood).
- Pea protein is higher in total Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) and glutamine for muscle health.
- Pea protein is roughly three times higher in arginine, essential for maintaining muscle health than whey protein.
Whey protein is animal-based and may not be vegetarian because rennet, an animal byproduct, is used to separate the whey from curds. Lactose from dairy milk is used as the base to form the whey protein concentrate. Individuals who are plant-based, vegetarian or lactose intolerant should avoid using whey protein supplements.
Pea protein is also more sustainable. Getting quality protein from vegetable sources is less input and resource-intensive than dairy farming...so it's better for the planet too!
For more information, see the following article: Whey vs Plant Protein: Which Protein Supplement Is Right for You?
Clean Lean Protein can be consumed at any time of the day as a snack, in your smoothie, or as a training supplement. Protein is the base of any healthy meal. You can take Clean Lean Protein as a snack or post-workout to aid your body's recovery. Protein is critical for maintaining muscle health. Research suggests that with adequate energy intake, protein supplements can be consumed or post-training to stimulate lean muscle synthesis.
The amino acids are contained within the protein isolated from the Golden Pea and are not in their free form.
The general rule is that if you focus on the quality of nutrition, the quantities of what you eat will be less important. Stick to a diet that is almost entirely (80%+) natural, whole, and unprocessed foods. Recognizing that everyone is different, there is no ‘one size fits all diet to follow.
Kids Good Stuff
Unfortunately, not all fruit and vegetables in Kids Good Stuff are organic.
We recommend Kids Good Stuff, our multi-nutrient drink mix, that is designed specifically with children's needs in mind. It's got a rainbow of fruits, berries, and vegetables, as well as pre and probiotics that are important for their growing bodies. Kids Good Stuff is designed for children ages 4 and up. The amount of protein each child needs varies based on their physical size, dietary structure, and age.
Please consult with your child's Healthcare Practitioner on specific needs on protein intake for children.
Kids Good Stuff is free from common allergens including gluten, dairy, soy, peanuts, eggs, and GMOs. Kids Good Stuff is designed for children ages four and up. We test Kids Good Stuff for gluten, peanuts, dairy, and soy on a regular basis. There are no eggs or fish in our manufacturing facilities, but they source ingredients from various suppliers all over the world who may handle those ingredients within their facilities. Our manufacturing facility is free from nuts but does handle nut oils including coconut and chestnut.
For someone with severe allergic reactions, we recommend that you check with your child's Healthcare Practioner.
Kids Good Stuff Rich Chocolate is naturally flavored with pure cocoa powder. The natural vanilla flavor in Kids Good Stuff Vanilla Caramel is made by a process of spray drying the vanilla bean extract onto a starch carrier and mixing this with a vegetable gum for effective blending purposes. With our Wild Strawberry, it is the same process of spraying strawberry extract onto the starch carrier.
The Citric Acid found in our Kid's Good Stuff is derived from the fermentation of corn.
Digestive Support
Actazin is a powdered ingredient derived from whole green kiwifruit from New Zealand. The skin and seeds are removed then the remaining flesh is coldly processed to use in supplements to support digestive health.
Studies show that actazin kiwi fruit powder may promote gastrointestinal benefits. Actazin contains bioactive substances such as polyphenolics, fiber, and a kiwifruit enzyme called actinidin. It is also believed that actazin serves as a substrate for endogenous gut bacteria.
Realizing there was a need for a gut-friendly protein powder, Nuzest has teamed up with Bethany, author of Digest This (aka @lilsipper on Instagram), to create a line of digestive support products for those who want to nourish and support their gut. The line is specifically formulated to support digestion with enzymes extracted from key fruits that many don’t get in their daily diet. More of what you need and less of what you don’t.
Digestive Support Protein is a European Golden Pea protein powder blended with probiotics and other gut-friendly ingredients for healthy digestive support. This is a special collaboration with Bethany Ugarte, aka @lilsipper on Instagram and author of Digest This.
Digestive Support Protein is a vegan protein powder formula that contains no artificial sweeteners, flavors, gums, or fillers; plus the L-Glutamine and particular probiotics in this formula were added to target gut health. It is available in Probiotic Cacao and Probiotic Vanilla. This product is lightly sweetened with coconut sugar and is not for a sweet tooth.

The key raw ingredient in our Clean Lean Protein range is a pure isolate of premium European pea protein, a great source of amino acids essential for maintaining healthy gut flora. Further, Clean Lean Protein has a 98% digestibility rating meaning it’s easier on your digestive system. Probiotics are also associated with supporting the balance of our gut microbes, reducing symptoms associated with SIBO and IBS, easing digestive discomfort, and promoting digestion. SIBO can only be diagnosed by a functional medicine provider and so we recommend you speak with your practitioner to determine if Clean Lean Protein is suitable for the SIBO-protocol they have prescribed for you. For more information, see the following article: One of the Worst Things to Consume for IBS Sufferers
- Digestive Support Probiotic Cacao: 5.75 milligrams (equivalent to roughly a quarter the amount of that in a cup of black tea).
We opted for coconut sugar over artificial sweeteners/sugar alcohols because 0 calorie sweeteners can sometimes cause more harm than good, and your body typically craves more sugar from not being satisfied with the real thing. Adding 3-4g of coconut sugar per 2 scoops sweetens the protein ever so slightly yet still keeps it low in sugar, low glycemic, as well as keeping sugar cravings low.
Nuzest uses cacao powder (organic, unroasted) known as Theobroma cacao or the cacao tree. The cacao is derived from the organic Peruvian Criolla bean. The cacao is processed at low temperatures and considered raw.
Once the cacao is grounded into powder, it contains more amount of enzymes, minerals, and nutrients than cocoa powder, but tastes a little more bitter than cocoa powder for the same reasons. Our cacao powder is sourced from Peru.
There are 1.9 grams of cacao per serving of Digestive Support Probiotic Cacao protein.
The rice bran extract in the Digestive Enzyme Blend Daily Digestive Support supplements do not contain any alcohol.
Digestive Support Protein is European Golden Pea protein blended with probiotics and other gut-friendly ingredients for healthy digestive support. This is a special collaboration with Bethany (aka @lilsipper on Instagram).
Bacillus coagulans is the probiotic bacteria used in our Digestive Support Protein blends. Bacillus coagulans is a special type of good bacteria that is far stronger due to its spore form. Unlike other bacterial probiotics, (acidophilus, bifidobacteria, etc.), this is surrounded by a protective “shell” in the form of a spore. These spores can survive exposure to light, heat, oxygen, and hydrochloric acid. Because of this, Bacillus coagulans does not have to be refrigerated, and can easily survive stomach acid without an enteric coating.
For more information, see the following article: Why Taking Just Any Probiotic is Not Enough
L-glutamine, or just glutamine, is an amino acid. Amino acids are nutrients that help synthesize protein in the human body for nutrition. They can be found in protein-rich foods, including those from both plants and animals.
Digestive Support Cacao contains 1.5 grams of L-glutamine per serving and our Probiotic Vanilla blends contain 1.89 grams per serving.
Our Probiotic Strawberry protein contains 5 grams of L-glutamine.
Every so often, chunks of L-glutamine are found in the Digestive Support cacao powder. They already sieve the powders before they blend and this still happens very much like how the cacao clumps.
Nuzest and Bethany, author of Digest This and the creator of @lilsipper on Instagram, designed Clean Lean Protein Digestive Support and selected "Bacillus coagulans" as the probiotic. Bacillus coagulans is a type of good bacteria and one of the few probiotics to withstand heat. These products do not need to be refrigerated. For more information, please see the following article: Potential Use of Bacillus coagulans in the Food Industry.
Our digestive enzymes included in the blend are:
- Amylase
- Protease
- Lipase
- Cellulase
- Lactase
No, the strawberries are not organic.
Packaging
Nuzest is very environmentally conscious and always trying to think of innovative ways to reduce our carbon footprint. This is also one of the many reasons why our company is 100% plant-based.
There are many companies researching and attempting to develop sustainable packaging and we are actively following their progress. Biodegradable plastics and paper still do not have the air and watertight integrity necessary for food protection and shelf stability. At this time, the most environmentally responsible packaging is the HDPE plastic jars, which we currently use for all of our canisters.
Nuzest canisters are 100% recyclable after removing the labels. Because the sachets and athlete's bag contain foil, they are not recyclable at this time. For more information on our sustainability efforts, see the following link to our site: Sustainability Efforts
The best by date listed on our products is not an expiration date. Nuzest products are safe to consume after the best by date.
The primary distinction between a best by date and an expiration date is that an expiry date denotes the product might not be safe to consume after a certain date. A "best before" or "best by" date means that the product may be best in terms of flavor, consistency, and nutritional value by that date.
BPA or "bisphenol A" is an industrial chemical that has been used to make certain plastics and resins since the 1960s. BPA is found in many polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins. Polycarbonate plastics are often used in containers that store food and beverages, such as water bottles.
Nuzest's packaging is 100% BPA-free.
No, the HDPE used for our jars is not fluorinated. Poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), including perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctanoic sulfonate (PFOS) are not used.
